BLACK BELTS
Mr. Santa Cruz (3rd DAN)
“A good fight should be like a small play...but played seriously. When the opponent expands, I contract. When he contracts, I expand. And when there is an opportunity... l do not hit...it hits all by itself. Any technique, however worthy and desirable, becomes a disease when the mind is obsessed with it..”
Mr. Harley Howard (3rd DAN)
Mr. William Mason III (3rd DAN)
Mr. Mister Jackson (2nd DAN)
Mr. Howard (2nd DAN)
Mr. Applegate (2nd DAN)
Todd Applegate served with the 3rd RANGER Battalion of the U.S. Army during the late 80's and early 90's. During this period, he developed an interest in martial arts through hand-to-hand combat training that featured Judo techniques. In 1994, he studied Tae Kwon Do for a short period with Grandmaster Young Sil Seo in Columbus, Georgia. He took up the art again with Master Ik Ho Seo in 2003 until being stopped by ACL surgery. In 2005, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona and earned his black belt with Master Williams (student of Grandmaster Woo Jin Jung) at Arizona Family Tae Kwon Do in 2007. The school closed shortly after he earned his black belt which prompted a search for a new school. He tried several schools, but chose Khalid's Martial Arts due to its balanced, analytical, and challenging traning that has a unique focus on sparring, hand fighting, knife techniques, qi gong, and pressure point techniques.
